Palawan Regained its “Best Island in the World” Title

PALAWAN – The Department of Tourism (DOT) celebrates as Palawan reclains ‘best island in the world’ citation.

Millions of foreigners came to visit the Philippines every year. They spend their vacation in gorgeous islands, experience the hospitality of Pinoys, and try delicious food.

The Philippines never fails to amaze its visitors. That’s the reason why you should put this country on your bucket list. Among its breathtaking islands are Siargao, Boracay, and Palawan.

In a previous article, Hostel world named Siargao island as one of the world’s 20 best backpacking destinations for 2020. The global hostel-focused online booking platform ranked the island ninth on the list.

On Wednesday, July 8, the renowned international travel magazine Travel+Leisure released its Top 25 islands in the World list. Palawan is recognized again as the “best island in the world.” It topped with 94.83 points. The beautiful island previously held the titled in 2013, 2016, and 2017.

“Though it’s difficult to reach from many parts of the world, once travelers get there they can dive in World War II wrecks, explore old-growth rain forests, and paddle one of the world’s longest subterranean rivers at Puerto Princesa,” the writer said.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) celebrated the hailing of Palawan as the ‘world’s best island.’ Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said “Palawan reclaimed its rightful place in the World’s Best Awards. The citation as the Best Island in the World is all the more important because this is voted upon by the readers of the prominent Travel + Leisure magazine.”

“It’s wonderful to see that our rehabilitation and sustainable development efforts last year, especially in El Nido and Coron, were well-received by tourists everywhere” she added.
