Actress Kim Chiu reacts to controversy involving Congressman Remulla.
KIM CHIU – Kapamilya star Kim Chiu has this comment about Congressman Remulla who did this amid singing of the country’s national anthem.
Among the most controversial stars of today is Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu. This is following all the issues that have transpired over her statement about the current situation of the country facing a giant and major pandemic.
And now, being a free citizen, after seeing the controversial photo of House Deputy Speaker Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, she made a comment. She lamented over “another issue na hahayaan na lang ulit” which is pure injustice. She even added, “Nakakaiyak na ang mga nangyayari, sa totoo lang.”
Remulla was spotted taking down notes amid singing of the national anthem, Lupang Hinirang, which is a clear disrespect to the flag and violation of a law. In his apology, he stated there that he has forgiven the “ABS-CBN people” who sensationalized his action.
He said, “I’d like to apologize for an earlier incident na ako po’y may ’sinusulat na note no’ng nag-flag ceremony tayo. As usual, the ABS-CBN people are the ones playing it up now on social media. But I will forgive them.”
Republic Act No. 8491 is also known as “Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines”. Under this is section 38 which states, “When the National Anthem is played at a public gathering, whether by a band or by singing or both, or reproduced by any means, the attending public shall sing the anthem. The singing must be done with fervor.”
And to show respect, one must accordingly face the flag, execute a salute by placing the right palms over the left chest.
