Facebook New Feature Adds Pop-Up When Sharing Old News

FACEBOOK UPDATE – The biggest social media platform announced a new feature that adds a pop-up whenever you share old news.

During this pandemic, one of the most dangerous things we could find is misinformation about the coronavirus. As such, Facebook attempted to prevent this with its latest update.

Previously, Facebook already had a report system for not-so-legitimate articles. However, this would be the first time that the company would place a warning before sharing content.

According to an article from TechCrunch, if an article was more than 90 days old, the user would be given a choice. They could either “go back” or share the post, knowing that the article wasn’t fresh.

Facebook admitted that old stories could be shared out of context and could cause distress and panic, especially in these times. As per the article, Facebook said they showed concerns that old stories were being circulated as fresh news.
