Health Secretary Duque on people’s call for his resignation
Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has been criticized over various “failures” on COVID-19 response and this is his reaction to those urging him to resign.
To recall, Duque was lambasted by many when he said that the Philippines is already experiencing the second wave of the coronavirus. Just recently, President Rodrigo Duterte commanded him to do a necessary action regarding the cash aid for frontliners’ family who died due to COVID-19.
Reportedly, this program was not acted upon by the DOH for several months. Because of that, Duque put the blame on his subordinates and later on stated that he takes responsibility.
Based on the previous, the “failures” that the DOH Secretary has
exhibited while the Philippines is fighting against the new coronavirus, should prompt him to resign, as what Senator Ping Lacson stated.
Aside from the lawmaker, Ben & Ben’s Paolo Guico also called upon Duque to step down. Previously, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque already reiterated that as an official, like him, Duque is also serving the pleasure of the Chief Executive of the Philippines.
Because of this issue, the Health Secretary responded. Based on the recent
Twitter post from CNN Philippines, when asked about call for his resignation, Duque said, “I serve under the pleasure of the President.”
Meanwhile, the DOH chief said that testing is not the sole important thing
in dealing with the COVID-19. He said that quarantine also plays a major role.
He also said that as of June 8, 331 test results were released to patients
within the last 3 days. “In NCR, 114 lang ang ating kaso. Ang Region 7
ay 156. Ang ibang lugar, 60. Sa repatriate, isa lamang ang aging position,” Duque added.

You not only serving for the Pleasure of the President, you are also serving the Pilipino people who the President is also serving.
Now if you keep on failing the people served by president who you are serving, hindi kapa nahihiya na puro ka kapalpakan sa ginagawa mo?
