SAP 2nd Tranche Distribution – Will poor Filipinos still receive their cash aid from the social amelioration program even after the expiration of Bayanihan Law?
Amid the community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed cash assistance to poor Filipinos, especially those who did not had the means to work for a living.
Although, there had been some issues in the distribution this program has helped a lot of poor families. Meanwhile, some cities have already distributed the 2nd tranche as what the Palace has ordered later last month.
However, this is not the same case in other cities or municipalities. The Bayanihan Law is set to expire on June 25. In line with this, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that the SAP 2nd tranche distribution will still continue even beyond the aforementioned date.
Roque said that those families who did not receive the cash aid from the first distribution will be prioritized in the second distribution, based on the report from UNTV News and Rescue.
“Ang ina-assure ko lang po, yung mga benepisyo na di pa natatanggap ng ating mga kababayan na nakapaloob sa bayanihan act will be given to them, wala pong epekto kung kalian ang expiration ng law pagdating sa 2nd tranche ng ayuda at iba pang ayuda na dapat maipamigay,” he said.
Based on the report, the DSWD’s validation of names in the list of beneficiaries is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Palace reiterated that the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act will expire on June 25, three months after it was implemented. The office of the President is still studying if a special session in Congress is needed to be held in order to prolong the said law.
“I’m sure, the office of the executive secretary is studying this matter already pero ang importante po ay magkaroon ng stimulus bill na suportado ng parehong houses of congress po,” Roque said.
