Davao City Quarantine Violators “Inhumane” Punishment, Mayor Speaks

Here’s what these Davao City quarantine violators have said about being punished in dirty canal.

DAVAO CITY – Nine (9) violators of curfew and liquor ban in Davao City detailed how they were punished and made to swim in a dirty canal.

In a previous article, nine (9) men who accordingly violated quarantine rules such as the curfew and liquor ban were seen lined up in a viral video online. Right after that, they were made to swim in a dirty canal before they were sent home.

And this did not suit well to a lot of people who condemned such punishment. It might have been a given fact that these men have violated rules but being punished that hard isn’t right anymore.

Even the Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that what was done was inhumane. To make a person swim in a filthy canal which no one know how dirty it could be is not humane accordingly. She said, “Humane ba ang pa-swimmingon ang usa ka tawo sa kanal? No it’s not humane. What is humane, dapat gipalimpyo sila sa kanal.”

The mayor and presidential daughter said that these violators should have just cleaned the canal instead of being made to swim on it. One of the violators admitted his mistake but believed that being punished that way is unrightful.

Based on his statement as per ABS-CBN report, before the punishment in canal, they were made to push up 50 times until 1 A.M. and when they thought that was the end of it, they were wrong. The incident has already been reported and now being investigated.
