Is Vico Sotto a DDS or Dilawan?

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was asked if he is a DDS (Duterte supporter) or a Dilawan (opposition) and here is his answer to this question.

In the world of politics, the popularity of the son of Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes is not just confined within the city of Pasig but in the whole Philippines. He is known for his innovative measures amid the enhanced community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because of this, those who are supporting him are entertaining the possibility that he would run to a higher position. Amid his efforts to be the best public servant that he can be for his constituents, political issues are inevitable.

During the first episode of the GMA’s digital talk show Quarantined, hosted by COVID-19 survivor Howie Severino, Mayor Vico was asked if he thinks he will win the mayoralty race if he was not endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The 30-year-old mayor said that he does not undermine the endorsement from the President but he thinks that he can still win the race because his team is “good to go”.

He also said that “utang na loob” is not an issue because the endorsement has no condition. “I respect the office, I respect the President and I’m very thankful for the endorsement,” he said.

When asked if he’s an ally of the President, he said that he considers himself as independent. “Ako wala akong pakialam sa pulitika nila na national eh whether DDS, dilawan… I don’t pay any attention to that because I have work to do. Hindi ako pwedeng mamulitika dito,” Mayor Vico Sotto added.

He also said that political issues or affiliations is not his main concern but the needs of his constituents. “Kumbaga there’s a lot on my plate already. Hindi na para makisawsaw ako sa national politics,” he stressed during the interview.
