This Filipina is proud of what she achieved amid ECQ

Filipina Paula Dahlia Mendoza completed 20 Ivy League and global university courses while during the enhanced community quarantine.

The lockdown has become a time for most people to take a rest, to binge-watch, to learn a new hobby, and just bond with the family. On the other hand, Paula used the almost two months of community quarantine to study and study more until she finally finished 20 online courses.

With her aim to inspire others to continue to acquire knowledge, she shared this post on Facebook. “Encouraging everyone kasi super nakakaadik mag gain ng new knowledge and skills. Andami mo talagang matututunang effective strategies and techniques – panlaban sa adulting period at para handa sa better opportunities. Higit sa lahat, dagdag credentials din syempre,” she said after losing her job due to the lockdown.

In an article from Preview PH, Paula shared that at the beginning of quarantine, she was also binge-watching on Netflix, then, she tried gardening but that did not woke her interest to the hobby. That was the time when she browsed the internet and stumble upon Coursera that offers different free and paid online courses.

After that, the 28-year-old Filipinas found herself wanting to learn more. “Parang di ako nakakatulog maigi pag di ko nafufullfill yung course and gusto ko talaga, hanggat maaari natatapos ko na agad,” she shared.

Based on her post, among the prominent colleges that she enrolled in are the University of Pennsylvania, University of Colorado, National University of Singapore, HEC Paris, and the University of California.

When asked if what was her favorite online class that she took amid the quarantine, Paula said that it was the Achieving Personal and Professional Success that The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania offered. It was the course that asked the question, “Does Success Equal Happiness?

For the Filipina people have the misconception that “successes most think about are wealth and status.” However, she said that “success is an all-around sense of well-being and passion for what it is that you are doing.”
