DEPED – The Department of Education (DepEd) revealed the proposed classroom arrangement if the government allows face-to-face learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health officials advised the public to practice physical distancing and avoid crowds amid the coronavirus pandemic. They said, for now, it is the safest and simplest way to reduce transmission.

The Philippine government immediately suspended the classes to halt the spread of the disease from Wuhan City, China. The Department of Education (DepEd) also hold the graduation ceremonies nationwide.

Last May 5, DepEd announced that the opening of classes for SY 2020-2021 will be on August 24, 2020. Education Secretary Leonor Briones said classes in some areas will probably be done virtually.

In a previous article, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV suggested that classes in public schools and state universities and colleges should be postponed until January 2021. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. urged the government to postpone all classes until the COVID-19 vaccine is made available.

On Monday, May 25, Manila Bulletin shared a photo of DepEd’s proposed classroom seat arrangement on their Twitter account. Based on the caption, this will be the seating arrangement if the government allows face-to-face learning delivery.

The post shows the layout for classrooms that uses table and chair and armchair. There is a one-meter distance between each student.

“DepEd proposed classroom seat arrangement if face-to-face learning delivery will be allowed this coming SY; layout for classrooms using armchairs is different from those w/ tables & chairs but the 1-meter distance between each learner will be followed,” it wrote.
