DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones Announces Result of COVID-19 Test

DEPED SECRETARY LEONOR BRIONES – Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones was confirmed positive for COVID-19.

In the Philippines, there is now a total of over 3,800 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Officially called as COVID-19, the said disease was already declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a pandemic due to its impact.

The COVID-19 has caused the locking down of several nations. Across the globe, over 1.5 million people were infected by the disease and nearly 89,000 deaths were recorded.

The said strain of coronavirus was first recorded in China, specifically in Wuhan City in the province of Hubei. Currently, China is already recovering while several countries are on a battle to contain the spread of the disease.

In PH, not only ordinary citizens have fallen victims to coronavirus. Several known personalities in the different fields have tested positive for COVID-19.

Recently, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones confirmed that she tested positive for COVID-19. Based on a report on GMA News, in a statement, the DepEd Chief said that she received the test results yesterday and she tested positive for the disease.

It was last April 2 when the DepEd Secretary took a retest for coronavirus after a fellow DepEd official tested positive for the disease. Based on the report, she is asymptomatic.

Currently, Briones is on a self-isolation. She will continue to work through virtual modes.
