Siñas Thanks Duterte For Defending Him on COVID-19 Birthday Controversy

SIÑAS – Metro Manila’s top cop Debold Sinas thanked President Rodrigo Duterte defending him over his controversial birthday party.

On May 8, police officers gave National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Debold Sinas an early morning serenade or ‘mañanita.’ Photos of the birthday party went viral on social media.

Their viral photos receive flack from the online community. They said they are violating the quarantine protocols. In a previous article, Siñas insisted that they are following protocols in his party.

Last week, PNP spokesman Brig. General Bernard Banac said the NCRPO chief may stay in his position amid the country’s fight against COVID-19. He explained that they cannot replace him while the country is fighting the disease.

“We don’t have to change horses in the middle of this fight against COVID-19,” said Banac.

Based on a report from GMA News, Siñas on Wednesday, May 20, thanked president Duterte for defending him despite the allegations that he violated the quarantine rules.

“First, I’d like to thank the President for the trust and confidence. Thank you po, Mr. President at narecognize niyo po ako… ako po ay talagang natutuwa na the President has recognized our effort…”

“‘Yung iba kung nagkamali man, okay lang, tuloy lang ang trabaho. Ang guidance naman ni President, tuloy ang trabaho at ipagpatuloy ang magandang gawain. ‘Yun po ang gagawin namin,” he added.

According to the report, Siñas also urged his bashers to move on. He said, “hopefully maka-move on sila kasi ako magmo-move on na ako eh.”

In a televised address on Tuesday, Duterte discribed him as a good and honest cop. He said it’s not his fault that his team throw a surprise birthday party for him.
