DOH Update on COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines Now
DOH – The Department of Health issued an update on the COVID-19 cases, deaths, and recoveries in the Philippines as of today, May 14.
An invisible enemy, the coronavirus or COVID-19, is claiming a lot of lives daily now. This was already declared as pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) as its impact is far beyond what was expected of the disease.
Currently, over 200 countries have confirmed cases of this disease. This was first recorded in China last December 2019. Beginning January 2020, several other nations confirmed their first cases of this disease.
Philippines is one of the countries with confirmed cases of coronavirus. In fact, it is where the first COVID-19 death outside China was recorded.
Currently, several areas in the Philippines are under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and General Community Quarantine (GCQ). Both measures are set to expire tomorrow, May 15.
Recently, the Palace made an announcement regarding the measures that will expire tomorrow. The national government has decided to place the entire country except for the National Capital Region, Laguna province, and Cebu City under a GCQ after May 16. The said three (3) areas will be under a Modified ECQ.
There are still new cases of coronavirus daily. As of today, May 14, there is a total of 11,876 cases of the disease recorded in the country. It was after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 258 new cases today.
With regards to the death toll, the health department stated that 18 new deaths brought the total to 790 now. On the positive side, 86 new recoveries were recorded bringing the total to 2,337.
