House Authors Urge Cayetano To Tackle ABS-CBN Franchise Bills
HOUSE AUTHORS – Here’s the letter of the House authors asking Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano to tackle ABS-CBN franchise bills.
The largest tv network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, went off the air after 65 years of service on May 5. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order against the broadcasting network.
The company’s talents took to their social media accounts to react to its closure. They air their concern for the 11,000 workers who just lost their livelihood amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In a previous article, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano broke his silence regarding the untimely closure of the Kapamilya network. “We would have wanted to do this in an orderly manner. But what we want and what we have to deal with are two different things. So this Congress has no choice but to once again rise to the occasion and fix the mess others make,” he said in his Facebook post.
On Tuesday, May 12, ABS-CBN shared the photo of the House author’s letter asking Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano to tackle Kapamilya network’s franchise bill immediately because they are being blamed for the displacement of the company’s 11,000 workers.
Among the 14 lawmakers who signed the letter are Representatives Rose Marie Arenas, Vilma Santos, Johnny Pimentel, Carlos Isagani Zarate, Arlene Brosas, Josephiney Ramirez-Sato, France Castro, Rufus Rodriguez, Micaela Violago, Ferdinand Gaite, Sol Aragones, Eufemia Cullamat, Joy Myra Tambunting, and Sarah Jane Ilago.
“We understand that there are important measures that the House Leadership has to attend to in this extraordinary time. However, we believe, too, that resolving the ABS-CBN issue the soonest is equally important given the impact, economically and politically, of its continued shutdown in this time of crisis,” they said.

Palagay hindi naman sa ayaw ni Cayetano kaya di nya magawa, wala lang siguro cya choice kung yan ang utos sa kanya…
Baka mali ako, but then again we will see kung makaka aksyon na ba cya….Mas inuna pa pag eexplain ng NTC. Bakit di nila utusan mag issue ng PA kung yun ay pwede. Sila ngayon ginigisa, at the end, NTC ang hahawak ng blame at hindi na c Cayetano. Pero baka totoo taktik lang yan para lalung ma delay ang renewal..
Naiisip ko lang yan…base sa nakikita ko.
