Chavit Singson Not In Favor Of Moms, Transwomen Joining Miss Universe
MISS UNIVERSE – Former Ilocos Sur Vice Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson opposes the inclusion of transgender people and mothers in the Miss Universe competition.
The Miss Universe Organization changed its rules in 2012 to include transgender participants. In 2018, Ángela Ponce from Spain made history as the first transgender contestant.
Fast forward to October 2022, when Anne Jakrajutatip, a transgender entrepreneur from Thailand, acquired the Miss Universe Organization from IMG. Under Jakrajutatip’s leadership, the competition underwent further rule changes, now permitting mothers, married individuals, and divorcees to compete.
Luis “Chavit” Singson, the former Vice Governor of Ilocos Sur, expressed his views regarding the decision of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) to permit transwomen and mothers to participate in the renowned pageant. During his interview with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) last Saturday, Singson elaborated on why he disagreed with this decision.
So ngayon, ahhh nagpapasok sila ng may anak. Hindi na Miss Universe iyon. Miss Universe, e, masisira na ‘yun. Hindi dapat,” he added.

According to the report, Chavit Singson suggested that the MUO should stick to its previous regulations. He said, “Iyon lang dapat.
“Maski noong araw. Dahil takot silang may mangyari. International issue, e.
“Then after that, sabi nila, the most successful Miss Universe… Philippines!”
