In addition to this, the office said that no one will be spared from the investigation. This includes PHISGOC head, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

At the start of the SEA Games, the organizers were faced with various problems regarding food, transportation, and accommodation. This led to people speculating that corruption might be one of the reasons.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, Ombudsman Samuel Marites stated that a 7-member panel was conducting a fact-finding inquiry. This was regarding the budget allocation for the event.

As per the article, Marites was asked if Cayetano would be involved in the investigation. The Ombudsman said that it would only be natural. He added that they cannot afford to be selective.

The Ombudsman added that they would be forced to file a case versus those involved in alleged corruption. However, the Senate and Malacañang would investigate the issue independent of the Ombudsman.

When asked about the investigation, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano said that he welcomed the probe. Afterward, he added that he fully supports all investigations.

We welcome this as an opportunity to put to rest all the questions so that we may move forward in celebrating the success of our athletes and honoring the sacrifices of our workforce and volunteers,

With this, the PHISGOC head said that he is ordering full transparency, audits, and opening of all books. In addition to this, Cayetano warned against those spreading false information.

As we are ready to meet all these accusations, I am also issuing fair warning to all those who plotted against the SEA Games and put politics over country; those who espoused and spread fake news and malicious lies. Personally I forgive you, but for the national interest there to accountability and a reckoning
