Karen Davila on FICTAP versus ABS-CBN franchise issues, news anchor shares something.
ABS-CBN FRANCHISE ISSUES – Kapamilya reporter Karen Davila shares something about the claims of FICTAP versus ABS-CBN network.
One of the most talked about topics in the Philippines is the shut down of the biggest media company in the Philippines, the ABS-CBN. A cease and desist order was issue from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to which it indicates that they have to go off air as their franchise has already expired.
And now, in a post shared by Karen Davila, some issues which transpired from their franchise renewal has been clarified by facts. Check out below from the Kapamilya newscaster:
- The ABS-CBN, aside from their filed case in 2014, also filed in 2016 and 2019 and the are not the same.
- The pay-per-view is not a violation of the franchise as per DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
- The Pacquiao fights has been sold already even before the NTC issued the cease and desist order.
- The franchise renewal case in 2014 under PNoy’s administration was not denied but it was not acted on by the Congress.
- The six (6) more channels under ABS-CBN do not need six (6) more franchises. One of technology’s advantages is that it is no longer one channel per one frequency.
- A franchise does not equate a channel. When a franchise is granted, they are allowed to use a frequency to which a frequency can have more than one channel.
Meanwhile, in a previous article, former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza blamed Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for the shut down of ABS-CBN. Famous Kapamilya stars such as Angel Locsin, Coco Martin, Kathryn Bernardo, and Judy Ann Santos have the same sentiments over the 11,000 of the company’s staff and crew losing job due to the cease and desist order.
