Elderly Man in Bacolod Dies of Stroke While Waiting to Get SAP Cash Aid
BACOLOD CITY – An elderly man has died after being stroked as he lined up for distribution of a social amelioration program (SAP) in Barangay Tangub in the city.
Based on the report of ABS-CBN News, Gualberto Hurtado, 84, has been back and forth on the cash aid distribution after they were interviewed. Barangay Captain Noli Villarosa said the subsidy for beneficiaries has not yet been entered.
Villarosa asked the residents to return only if a cashier was available for releasing cash aid. However, some residents came to the barangay gym early and lined up and Hurtado was included, who was allowed to leave his house because he had a SAP form.
Hurtado’s chest had just been hurt and it was weakening, sign of having a stroke or heart failure, because of the heat in the gym. Hurtado was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival, according to Villarosa the victim was stroked.
The barangay captain has promised to provide assistance to Hurtado’s family. Earlier this week, an elderly man also died after being stroke while queuing for government cash aid in Bulacan.
