DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved four (4) million more cash aid beneficiaries amid the COVID-19 crisis.

The outbreak of coronavirus or COVID-19 in the Philippines has affected almost everything and everyone. Churches had to be closed, schools were suspended, and several companies temporarily stopped their operation amid the fight.

The people were advised to stay at home to prevent the spread of the infection. More than 8,000 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country as of this writing.

Currently, there are still several parts of the Philippines that are under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). These are in high-risk areas.

In low and medium risk areas, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte accepted the recommendation of the National IATF to downgrade the measure to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) until May 15.

Amid the fight against the spread of coronavirus, many people lost their income. Several households are struggling on how to cope up with their expenses on food. Thus, the government lodged a Social Amelioration Program.

The Social Amelioration Program is handled by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). A lot of families have already received their cash aid amid the crisis.

Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Duterte recently approved another four (4) million cash aid beneficiaries amid the COVID-19 crisis. It was confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

According to Roque, Pres. Duterte decided that everyone who is need must be given a cash assistance. So instead of having 18 million beneficiaries, four (4) million more beneficiaries will be given a cash aid.

Based on the report, the 3rd weekly report of the President to the Congress entailed that local government units can submit the names of the additional beneficiaries they found eligible for the cash aid. The DSWD will validate the submitted data.

Reportedly, under the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act over the COVID-19 crisis, beneficiaries may receive between Php 5,000.00 to Php 8,000.00 for two (2) months. The amount depends on the assessment and the money will be given in two (2) tranches.
