List of SAP Beneficiaries’ Must Be Posted Public Places Says VP Leni Robredo

LENI ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo asked the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) to make the list of SAP beneficiaries public.

Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has released billion to support the daily need of the poor families amid the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. He ordered the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) to handle the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

The people who will benefit the assistance are the senior citizens, PWDS, low-income households, overseas Pinoys in distress, single parents, and pregnant moms. In a previous article, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ordered every barangay to post the list of beneficiaries.

DSWD supported DILG’s request to the barangays. DSWD chief Rolando Bautista said people the right to know the beneficiaries and how much they receive.

On Monday, April 27, Vice President Leni Robredo urged the DSWD to post the list of SAP beneficiaries in public. Based on a report from CNN Philippines, she said the barangay officials are “bearing the brunt” of the people who were not included on the list of cash aid beneficiaries.

“Feeling ko kailangan mas maging transparent, saka mas maging maayos ang coordination between the national government and the local government. Sino ba talaga ang makakakuha?” she said.

According to the report, Leni Robredo releasing the list in public would really help the residents and the local government units to be on the same page. She said “baka it would help everyone that the list be made public para alam ng tao kung makakakuha siya o hiindi at alam ng tao na hindi naman niya kailangan isisi sa kaniyang kapitan o isisi sa kaniyang mayor kung bakit siya wala.”
