LGU in Manila Gives Cash Assistance to Teachers & Staff of Public School

MANILA – The local government gave a cash assistance to the teachers and staff of public schools in the city.

A lot of people are greatly affected by the coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines. In fact, almost everyone as many businesses temporarily stopped operation, classes were suspended, and borders were closed.

The entire Luzon is under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) now. The same measure is being implemented now in Visayas and Mindanao provinces. Everyone is advised to stay at home.

Yesterday, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke to the nation in a televised address. He supported the recommendation of the IATF to extend the ECQ in areas that are considered high-risk for COVID-19.

Several areas including the National Capital Region (NCR) will have an ECQ extension until May 15. Other areas with low and medium risk will be under the General Community Quarantine or GCQ.

The local government units are tasked to help their constituents amid the COVID-19 crisis. In Manila, the LGU led by Mayor Isko Moreno gave cash assistance to public school teachers and staff.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Manila LGU gave a Php 5,000.00-cash assistance to both the teaching and non-teaching personnel of public schools. Mayor Isko approved the allocation of Php 64 million for it.

According to the Mayor of PH’s capital city, everyone in the public schools will receive equal cash aid. Schools division superintendent Dr. Maria Magdalena Lim said that they have already deposited the cash assistance to the bank accounts of the teachers and school staff of public schools.
