Philippine National Police (PNP) said that coronavirus disease has already infected 77 cops.
CORONAVIRUS DISEASE – The chief of Philippine National Police (PNP) said that 77 cops tested positive for coronavirus disease, Wednesday, April 22.
More and more people are getting infected of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 or also called as COVID-19. Globally, it has already reached over 2.5 million and in the Philippines, we now have a total of 6,599 confirmed cases as per April 21 update from the Department of Health (DOH).

And now, according to Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Archie Gamboa, the number of policemen who contracted the virus has already reached 77. This includes the 12 cops who have recovered and the three who died due the respiratory disease. The three who passed away have underlying medical problems such as diabetes, hypertension and heart problems.
The PNP is now heading up to building quarantine sites at their headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City. According to ABS-CBN, this is intended for those police officers who are asymptomatic or those who will have the mild symptoms.
Even before the breakout, health authorities may it be in the Philippines or other countries, highly suggest and encourage people to do the following safety measures:
- practice regular hand washing
- cover of mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing
- avoiding close or physical contact and interaction with people who exhibit virus symptoms
- using alcohol and sanitizers
Cops are among the persons we all considered working on the frontline as it is them who are working to keep peace and order and implement rules amid the enhanced community quarantine. ECQ will accordingly end on April 30.
