As roadblocks, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte used tanks and backhoes.
DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Duterte uses tanks and backhoes to block the major roads in Davao City amid the height of pandemic, April 15.
Amid the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Davao City, morning of April 15, residents were welcomed with heavy equipment such as tank and backhoes blocking the road. Mayor Sara Duterte has already warned the people about this on April 14 having “transformers” in their city to control the crowd.
This has done in order to limit cars and people going anywhere without important errands to do. Residents must understand that this is for them in order to contain the spread of the virus. Mike Lopez, a friend of the female mayor, commented that the situation is similar to that of transformers film.
Lopez wrote on Facebook, “Anyway, hope we can do the same here in Cebu to block off roads and leave only one or two lanes open at access points to and from every barangay for easy monitoring (there should only be one access point open for every barangay, everything else must be completely closed off).”
Meanwhile, according to a report from PEP, resident have mixed reactions to what the mayor has done. Some commended the mayor for this initiative in their city to limit the movement while some found this way as “very unnecessary” for what is needed is the personnel’s strict implementation of the guidelines.
In a previous report, on the other hand, the number of confirmed cases in the Philippines has increased by 218 which eventually gave us a total of 5,878 with 387 deaths and 487 recoveries based on an update from the Department of Health on April 17.
