And now, according to a report from Brigada News, after the ECQ would have to end by the end of the month, some senators support if ever another extension for the quarantine will be implemented. Senate President Tito Sotto said that ECQ is better for as long as the treatment for the disease is not made yet.

Meanwhile, Senator Imee Marcos suggested a modified community quarantine after the enhanced community quarantine ends. According to Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia, on the other hand, another extension would be difficult to sustain.

Based on Inquirer, Pernia said during an interview, “Mahirap na siguro. Marami na nagsabi na kailangan may partial opening na. Dapat lang may precaution against the resurgence or the relapse of people who had been cured or who were able to avoid the COVID-positive situation.”

NEDA chief added that relapses happened in Wuhan, Singapore, and Korea which is why they have to be careful upon lifting the quarantine. He also added this in terms of COVID-19 economic effects which is expectedly to have a hit, “The worst case scenario siguro is between (negative) one percent and zero. The more upbeat scenario would be a growth rate of between one percent to two percent.”
