Lea Salonga asks these questions amid the Luzon-wide community quarantine
Broadway diva Lea Salonga asks vital questions amid the enhanced community quarantine that the whole region is facing right now.
Through her Facebook post, the singer-actress shared with her followers her thoughts regarding the current situation in Metro Manila, as well as in other provinces in the Luzon region.
First, Lea shared what are the things her family is doing amid the community quarantine. “At my house, it’s been homework and TV shows for Nic, Castlevania for me, video games, workouts, writing, and finding yarn for possible needlework projects. And thinking. Lots and lots of time for thinking,” she shared.
She also shared that one of her cousins tested positive for COVID-19 despite being robust. Then, Lea shared her realization and that raised a lot of vital questions.
“It’s easy for many of us to flippantly recommend staying at home, but how do we recommend that to a daily wage earner? To someone that can’t see their families because of the lockdown? To people that are with their families, but are now unable to provide for them? What do we do? Point fingers? Blame the government for its delays in taking action? Blame the folks that insist on going out when they’ve already been told to stay at home? How do we recommend social distancing to people whose homes are inches away from each other? What then? Can anyone answer these questions?” she asked.
For Lea, one good thing to keep her smiling and not angry is to share posts with a tinge of humor. She added that it is important also to share factual posts in order not to create unnecessary noise.
Lea Salonga also showed appreciation to all the people who are providing funds, foods, protective devices and any other kind of support such as funny videos, memes, music, and prayers amid the COVID-19 threat.
“Now, whatever we gotta do to beat this thing, let’s beat this thing. Let’s keep our wits about us… our heads screwed on straight… we have to beat this thing. I look forward to the day that this virus becomes insignificant and inconsequential, but this isn’t that day,” the Broadway diva shared.
