Mandaluyong residents flock to pawnshops following the declaration of the enhanced community quarantine extension.
Earlier this week, President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the 15-day extension of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. The extended quarantine would end on April 30, 2020.
However, the extended lockdown protocols are contributing to the burden of Filipino people whose jobs were affected by the quarantine orders. Most of them are struggling when it comes to their financial status.
A Facebook user need Roberto Reyes Ang has shared the photo of residents in Mandaluyong have flocked to pawnshops, money remittance centers, and bills payment centers as they try to manage their financial transactions.
In the photo, it can be seen that the residents are queuing outside of a Cebuana Lhuillier in Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong. The photo was taken on the fourth week of the enhanced community quarantine.

“Even though people attempt to follow social distancing, it is quite alarming how they flock to pawnshops as well as money remittance and bills payment centers as they try to manage their financial transactions and needs. Yesterday’s announcement of the lockdown extension has made life more challenging for a lot of people, even for those who belong to the middle class. As of today, there have been 3,870 reported cases of COVID-19 in the country with 96 recoveries and 182 deaths.”
