Korina Sanches Reacts to Extension of Luzon-wide quarantine
KORINA SANCHEZ – Renowned journalist and tv host Korina Sanchez is in favor of extending the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
The Philippine government encourages everyone to stay indoors following the spike of 2019 novel coronavirus cases in the country. Limiting the movement of the people could help control the spread of the deadly virus.
On Monday, April 6, the Department of Health (DOH) reported that there are now 3,660 COVID-19 cases in the country and 163 deaths. 72 people have recovered from the disease.
The “enhanced community quarantine” is on its last week but the coronavirus cases continue to increase. On Tuesday, April 7, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte decided to extend the ECQ in Luzon.
ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez took to her Instagram account to air her thoughts regarding the extension of the community quarantine due to coronavirus pandemic.
The 55-year-old host approved the decision of the governent. She said it would really help the people said it’s okay with her even if it extended until July.
“My vote is that we stay locked down until it is truly safe. I told my friend, mabuti na ang masira ang ulo sa loob ng bahay kaysa mamatay sa ospital. Even as lockdown is lifted, big assemblies should still be regulated. Social distancing still observed and masks still worn. Hinala ko, hanggang July ito. Sana huwag. Most importantly, sana wala nang magkasakit at bawian nang buhay,” she wrote.
