PRESIDENT DUTERTE – Here are the contrasting views and opinions of President Rodrigo Duterte about Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Even before the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) had a break out in the country, President Duterte was always telling the people not to be hysterical about it. Even other officials from this administration told the people not to single out China and blame the country. To recall, it was in Wuhan when the virus, a new strain of coronavirus, has been first recorded that has now claimed many lives and infecting more than a million of people globally.

This is based on a report from GMA where the president indicated: “You know, this coronavirus scaring people all over the country. The response of the people from the initial reports of coronavirus was almost hysterical when there was really no need for it actually.”

And in his latest speech addressing the nation as the combat the breakout, he said: “At the start, sinabi ko sa inyo, bantay tayo. Talagang yayariin tayo ng COVID na ito. It might not really cripple a country but it will of course cause sadness and fear kung paano tayo makakaraos dito.”

Based on the post from GMA on Facebook citing the contrasting views of the president. Obviously, the statements were conflicting. As of the April 7 update from the Department of Health (DOH), the confirmed cases in the Philippines climbed 104 higher which now gives us a total of 3,764. This record comes along with 177 fatalities and 84 recoveries.
