President Duterte to Donate His Entire Salary for April to Support the Government’s Fight vs Coronavirus Disease
President Duterte will donate his salary for the month of April to support the government in battling the coronavirus disease.
The Philippines is now suffering from the effects of the coronavirus disease prompting President Rodrigo Duterte to place the entire Luzon over an enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of the disease.
The local government units are already doing their very best to help the less-fortunate Filipinos affected by the lockdown protocols. Local officials and other high profile personalities are already distributing relief goods.
Several government officials, private organizations, and celebrities have already donated a huge amount of the cash to help the quarantine-affected residents.
On Sunday (April 5, 2020), Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo confirmed that the President Duterte has pledged to donate his April salary to support the government’s battle against the deadly virus.
“The President is likewise donating his one-month salary for the cause,” Panelo said.
Mr. Duterte’s action came after some Cabinet officials have donated some parts of their salary to support the fight against COVID-19. The president has an estimated monthly pay of P395,858 at the rank of Salary Grade 33.
