PACC Executive Pushes for Probe Vs. Vice Pres. Robredo, Pres. Duterte Reacts

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte sacked the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Executive who pushed for an investigation against Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.

Amid the fight against coronavirus in the Philippines, a political issue sparked after a PACC Executive pushed for an investigation against Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. The said official is PACC Commissioner Manuelito Luna.

The Vice President is seeking for solicitations from those who can help to fight the pandemic. The Philippines is now on a tough fight against the spread of the disease.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines now is at 3,018. The death toll is at 136 while 52 recovered from the disease.

The push to investigate the relief efforts of the Vice President for the COVID-19 pandemic sparked different reactions. Undeniably, a lot of people were disappointed.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is one of those who did not like PACC Executive Manuelito Luna’s push for an investigation against Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. He sacked the Commissioner.

In a televised public address, the President questioned why there is a need to have the Vice President probed when she has not committed a violation. According to him, upon knowing it, he fired the Commissioner right away.

“Gusto nya [Manuelito Luna] ipaimbestiga si Leni kung bakit magsolicit. Anak ng. Kaya nung narinig ko, sabi ko, ‘fire him.’ As of this moment, he is no longer connected with government,” Pres. Duterte said based on the report.

Also, the President issued a warning to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that if they will push through with the investigation, he may also fire him. On the part of Vice President, she stressed that there’s a lot of work to be done.
