Sen. Leila de Lima reaction to NBI’s summon versus Vico Sotto.
VICO SOTTO – Philippine Senator Leila de Lima tells NBI to drop summon against Vico Sotto over alleged violation of Bayanihan Law.
Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act Section 6 (a) was allegedly violated by Pasig City Mayor Vico Duterte. This indicated “disobeying national government policies or directives in imposing quarantines.”
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI cited that his violation is when he allowed tricycle drivers in Pasig City to continue operate despite public transportation suspension amid the lockdown. As for his part according to his Twitter post, it wasn’t illegal to air his opinion and immediately followed the rules when his plea wasn’t heard by the national government.
With this, echoing the public’s view, detained Senator Leila de Lima reacted and urged the NBI to drop their summon for the sake of “institutional integrity” as they are “defending an indefensible position”. It was accordingly way too forced for the mayor has done it days before the president signed it to become a law.
She stressed as he defended the young politician, “Mantakin ninyo: Pagpaliwanagin ba naman si Mayor Vico sa paglabag sa batas na hindi pa naman noon ipinatutupad?”
De Lima also fearlessly noted as per report from Inquirer, “Kung ego at kapritso lang ang paiiralin ni Duterte at ng kanyang gobyerno, lalong mapapahamak ang mga Pilipino.”
The ego and caprice of the president, according to her, will only cause suffering to many Filipinos coming from unprotected frontlines who put their lives on the everyday fighting coronavirus, starving people without their earnings, and unlawful arrests and detention.
