Baguio City “Rat Catching Challenge” will Give P20k to Most Clean Market Section

The local government of Baguio City imposed the “Rat Catching Challenge” to keep the market cleanliness amid ongoing enhanced community quarantine.

According to the Facebook post of Bombo Radyo Iloilo, Baguio City launched the Rat Catching Challenge as part of a campaign to keep the city public market clean with the ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine in Central Luzon due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Based on the report, the government of Baguio said that the rat-catching challenge will last for almost a month. This challenge aims every vendor of the public market to keep their section clean and free of rats.

The market section who catches a larger number of rats will have received P20,000 while catchers will also receive P10,000 for participation. Mayor Benjamin Magalong first visited the city public market where he ordered to put one mouse trap for every two vendors.

Rats are one of the top problems public places such as public markets facing. where rats manifest because of garbage and waste they can eat. Aside from annoying looks and movements they can also dangerous because of infectious diseases they carry.
