Photos of Sierra Madre Amid Coronavirus Quarantine Goes Viral
CORONAVIRUS – A netizen shared photos of the rare sight of the Sierra Madre amid drastic coronavirus quarantine.
Governments around the world currently seek to control the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus. Health authorities urged all the people to stay indoors to curb COVID-19.
However, cops, soldiers, and healthcare workers are exempted from it because they are obliged to serve their countrymen amid the pandemic. The Department of Health (DOH) asked for more volunteers to help them.
The Philippine government has imposed drastic measures to combat the deadly virus. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte restricted travel to and from the National Captial Region for 1 month as part of the “enhanced community quarantine.”
“Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila shall be suspended after beginning March 15, 2020, and to end on April 14, 2020, alas dose subject to the daily review of the Inter-Agency Task Force,” he said.
The health department advised the public to avoid mass gatherings like religious or sporting events during the crisis. As of March 24, coronavirus cases in the country jumped to 501.
Almost all factories in the country are shuttered and roads were cleared as authorities ordered the Filipinos to stay home to halt the spread of the virus. The quarantine period seems to have an unintended benefit to nature.
On Tuesday, March 24, a Facebook netizen named Johair Siscar Addang shared photos of the Sierra Madre. He took the beautiful photos from the roof deck of a condominium in Pasig City.
It can be seen in the photos that the cloud of toxic smoke almost disappeared weeks after the implementation of the month-long quarantine in Metro Manila. The clear skies allowed him to get a shot of the mountain. Addang’s post has garnered 20 thousand reactions, 328 comments, and 23 thousand shares as of this writing.
Netizens couldn’t help but react to the clear view of Sierra Madre. Here are some of their comments on the post:
@Rae DG: “Ang ganda! Thank you for sharing those photos”
@JN Sanchez Luntao: “s*et! LOVE!!! Grabe tooooo”
@Khristelle Cruz: “wow ang ganda grabe wala ng smog”
