14 COVID-19 Cases in Quezon City Sent Home After Testing for Coronavirus

COVID-19 CASES IN QUEZON CITY – Fourteen (14) cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus in Quezon City were sent home due to mild symptoms.

Containing the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 is one huge challenge for the Philippine government, the authorities, and the people. It can rapidly infect a lot of people and leave a nation under an outbreak.

The said strain of coronavirus was first recorded in China. It emerged in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province and caused an outbreak. Over 80,000 people in the Chinese community were infected.

Italy is also greatly affected by COVID-19. The country is now under a total lockdown and the death toll which is now over 6,000 has surpassed the coronavirus deaths in China which is at 3,270.

In the Philippines, the total confirmed cases of coronavirus now is 462. Eighteen (18) of these coronavirus patients have already recovered while 33 did not make it in the battle.

One of the hardest-hit cities in PH is Quezon City. Based on a report on GMA News, there is now a total of 65 cases of coronavirus in the said city.

Out of the total, 14 COVID-19 cases in Quezon City were sent home after they were tested for coronavirus. Based on the report, it is over the protocol observed by the Department of Health (DOH) as they have mild symptoms.

“Persons under investigation (PUIs) and positive COVID-19 patients who exhibit mild symptoms with no co-morbidities and non-elderly are advised to be sent home for strict self-isolation and close monitoring by local health authorities,” the DOH Memorandum 2020-0108 stated based on the report.

However, As to the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of QC, some patients sent home did not observe self-quarantine. Those who tested positive will be moved to a hotel quarantine to prevent the spread of the disease.
