Mayor Vico Sotto Says There’s No Need for Quarantine Passes in Pasig

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said residents will no longer be required to present quarantine passes when they go out of their homes.

Mayor Vico rejected the idea of distributing quarantine passes to his constituents as it will only defeat the purpose of the enhanced community quarantine being implemented by national government.

Recently, Vico Sotto said on his Facebook page that he already asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) for clarification and he found that securing quarantine passes doesn’t include the rules of the enhanced community quarantine.

“We do not need quarantine passes within Pasig jurisdiction,” Sotto said. “Malinaw naman ang exemptions sa strict home quarantine (It is clear what were the exemptions on the strict home quarantine).”

He also called the 1 per household quarantine pass as ‘useless’ and wanted the system in Pasig City to become as simple as possible.

“Isa pa, useless ang one per household quarantine pass na valid para sa buong quarantine period, dahil tatanungin pa rin naman ng pulis o barangay kung ano ang purpose nila sa paglabas ng bahay” he explained.

Basta’t gawin na lang natin SIMPLE… kung hindi para sa trabaho, medikal, o para bumili ng pagkain/supplies… STAY HOME,” he added.

Vico also clarifies and shares the current situation of Barangay Rosario where Philstar posted some photos of residents neglecting the social distancing measures. Keep in mind that there is an exemption for food buyers so it is inevitable that there will still be people on the shelves, Vico said on the post.
