WHO Warns Youth About Consequences Of Choices Amid Pandemic
YOUR CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES – The World Health Organization (WHO) warns the youth about the repercussions of their actions.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus issued a statement directed towards the youth. He emphasized that the coronavirus could still be fatal to young people.
Additionally, the Director-General highlighted that the youth must adhere to social distancing to avoid spreading the virus to the vulnerable.
Today I have a message for young people: You are not invincible, this virus could put you in hospital for weeks or even kill you. Even if you don’t get sick the choices you make about where you go could be the difference between life and death for someone else
To recall, the new coronavirus is significantly deadlier to the elderly. Moreover, those with existing medical conditions are most at risk. However, there have been cases where young people have died due to the disease.
Furthermore, health authorities from all over the world had reported deaths from individuals who were healthy.
Currently, COVID-19 has infected more than 275,570 individuals worldwide. Additionally, the virus caused 11,388 fatalities. However, 91,533 have already recovered.
Meanwhile, the Philippines has confirmed 230 cases of COVID-19. Of that number, a total of eighteen 18 died due to the virus. As of this writing, the number of recoveries is at eight (8) according to the health authorities.
In lieu of the increasing trend of coronavirus cases, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed an enhanced quarantine on Luzon. As such, travel and entry to cities in the region were restricted.
