Entry To Davao Region To Be Restricted Starting March 19 Over COVID-19
DAVAO REGION – The Region 11 will be closed to all travels starting March 19, 2020 as a move to fight the COVID-19.
The city, municipality, and provincial governments in the Philippines now are on the move to help the national government curb the spread of the new coronavirus or COVID-19 in the country. Undeniably, it is a serious national concern.
COVID-19 has infected over 70,000 people in China. It caused the locking down of Italy and the infected and death rates continue to increase. PH now is running against time to prevent its spread.
As part of the move to fight COVID-19, the Davao region or Region 11 decided to restrict entry to the cities and municipalities covered by the region starting March 19, 2020.
The said travel restrictions includes all land, sea, and domestic air travels. According to COVID-19 Task Force of the region headed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the suspension of the travel will last for 14 days.
Meanwhile, based on the report, the suspension may be reduced to seven (7) days depending on the assessment of the situation.
One of the 187 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Philippines was recorded in the region. The patient, 21-year-old woman given the ID PH130, came from United Kingdom.
Reportedly, before proceeding to Davao City, her flight has stopped by Qatar. She is currently confined at the Davao Regional Medical Center.
