Tagum City Declares Class Suspension on Monday (March 16) Due to Coronavirus
WALANG PASOK – Tagum City has declared class suspension in the city for Monday (March 16) due to the threat of COVID-19.
The Philippine government and the health authorities are already imposing precautionary measures and implementing stricter policy to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 that affects thousands of people worldwide.
The coronavirus outbreak is currently spreading in various nations all around the world and causing fear and panic to the public. The health care also causes panic buying of medical supplies such as alcohol and face masks.
Several local government units, schools, and private agencies have canceled some of their operations due to the threats of the deadly virus.
Tagum City Mayor Allan L. Rellon has declared the suspension of classes for March 16 (Monday) in all levels both public and private schools. Rellon also canceled school-based activities and gatherings.
Mayor Rellon made the declaration after President Rodrigo Duterte declared the Philippines under the State of Public Health Emergency through Proclamation 922. The Department of Health has already raised the emergency alert level to Code Red.
The cancellation of classes in Tagum City is based on Executive Order 2020 -032 released by Rellon.
