Westerly Child Gets COVID-19 Following Autograph From Infected NBA Player
CHILD GETS COVID-19 – The NBA has been left in disarray as two of its players tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
Due to the virus, the NBA season has been suspended. Along with this, other major sports in the United States suspended their seasons as well.
Recently, Utah Jazz star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus. Likewise, his teammate, Utah Jazz All-Star forward Donovan Mitchell also tested positive.
Meanwhile, Hall of Famer and beloved NBA analyst Charles Barkley announced that he was under self-quarantine awaiting results for the COVID-19 testing.
However, it seemed like the NBA isn’t the only thing affected by the virus.
A report from the Providence Journal stated that a child from Westerly, Rhode Island tested positive for COVID-19. As such, Police Chief Shawn Lacey reported that the child returned from an NBA game in Boston.
Afterward, the child got an autograph from a player who contracted the deadly virus. But, Lacey did not specify which player he got an autograph from.
Following this, The Boston Celtics made this statement:
The safety of our fans, players, staff, and media is of paramount importance to us, and we will continue to monitor developments and provide information as we work with league and health officials through this situation.
In addition, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health advised the team that “based on those players’ health statuses during this period, it is unlikely that anyone from the team came into contact with them while they were contagious.”
