Mindanao 1st Coronavirus Case Reported To Have No Known Travel History

MINDANAO 1ST CORONAVIRUS CASE – The Philippines had seen an increase in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases.

According to a report from GMA, the first COVID-19 case in Mindanao was identified as patient 40. Meanwhile, the confirmed case in the Visayas was from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Currently, the total number of confirmed cases in the Philippines is at 49. Along with this, both Visayas and Mindanao had confirmed their first cases of the virus.

The case in the Visayas had a recent travel history to Metro Manila and visited a mall in Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City, Metro Manila. There, the DOH had confirmed two cases of COVID-19.

In lieu of this, DOH assistant secretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire said health authorities have conducted contact tracing of the Visayan case.

However, the confirmed case in Mindanao did not have any known travel history. As per the report, the patient was a 54-year-old male who was admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro City.

Because of the spread of the coronavirus, President Duterte declared a state of public health emergency. With this, the government had imposed measures against the spread of COVID-19.

Students have been prohibited from loitering in public places like malls and plazas. However, some were still caught doing so.

More recently, Senator Manny Pacquiao filed the “Anti-Spitting Act of 2020” in the attempt to prevent the spread of the virus. The act prohibits people from spitting, coughing, sneezing, and similar acts in public places.
