Currently, there have been 24 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country. Moreover, local transmissions have already been confirmed by health authorities.

As of writing, all of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases came from Luzon. However, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental in the Visayas have 23 Persons Under Monitoring of COVID-19.

This has led President Rodrigo Duterte to declare a state of public health emergency. As such, officials have sought out plans for containing the deadly disease.

Aside from monitoring suspected patients for Covid-19, the government also banned students from going to crowded places.

According to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, Duterte directed every local official in the National Capital Region, along with the PNP, to “ensure that no children are loitering around”.

Along with this, those who are caught would be immediately sent home to do their homework.

Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, places were students are barred are the following:

  • Malls
  • Public Markets
  • Movie Houses
  • Other crowded places

As per the report, the DILG did not indicate the period of the implementation of the order.

Experts said that COVID-19 could be spread at an exponentially faster rate in areas with higher volumes of people. This is what happened in South Korea.

In the city of Daegu, a religious sect held masses where worshipers are seated close together. One of their members was reported to have been positive for COVID-19.

Now, the majority of the cases in South Korea could be traced back to that same religious sect in Daegu.
