Argao Police Chief Arrested After Caught Sleeping w/ Female Inmate Inside His Room at The Station

Argao police chief has been arrested after he was caught sleeping beside a female inmate inside his room at the police station.

Argao Police station chief Police Major Ildefonso Miranda has been arrested after he was found sleeping a female inmate facing illegal drug charges inside his room at the municipal police station.

The Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) raided the room of Miranda around 11:00 pm on Thursday (March 5). IMEG arrived and announced that they will conduct a police station inspection.

The police chief has been the subject of the raid for detaining the woman in his office for seven (7) months. The female inmate has been detained inside Miranda’s office instead of the station’s detention cell.

The 23-year-old lady inmate was arrested for violating RA 9165 last September 2019.

“Dapat nasa kulongan na lahat ng PUPCs (person under police custody). Dapat ina-account yan. Ina-account ng umaga, ina-account bago matulog. So bakit hindi nila ma report kung matagal na yan?” Police Colonel Roderick Mariano said.

Miranda might be dismissed from his post and would face cases of grave misconduct after the investigation.

Meanwhile, all cops assigned to the Argao Police station in Argao town, southern Cebu will be subjected to investigation.
