2 Newborn Babies Tested Positive For Coronavirus

CORONAVIRUS – 2 newborn babies in Wuhan City, China tested positive for the coronavirus.

Thousands of people have already contracted the 2019 novel coronavirus. The outbreak first started in Wuhan City, China. The deadly virus likely originated in their wet market. NCoV is spreading rapidly and crossing borders.

The virus has reached several countries including the United States, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. The outbreak has killed more than 560 people and infected more than 28,000. Most of the victims are from mainland China.

In a previous article, two Chinese women who are suspected of contracting the virus gave birth amid the outbreak. Both of them gave birth to a hospital in Wuhan City.

Based on a report from Smart Parenting, two newborn babies contracted the coronavirus. It is still not clear if the mothers passed the infection to their babies. One baby tested positive for coronavirus just 30 hours after birth.

According to the report, the baby was born on February 2, the epicenter of the virus. Doctors at Wuhan Children’s Hospital said the mother has also tested positive for the coronavirus before giving birth.

The baby is now the youngest victim of the deadly virus. Doctors said the baby has “no fever or cough, but was experiencing shortness of breath.” The baby’s chest x-rays “showed signs of infection, and there were some abnormalities in liver function.”

Based on the report, the doctors also shared an earlier case of an infant who was born on January 13. They said the baby showed symptoms of nCov 16 days after birth. The infant’s mother and nanny tested positive for coronavirus. The newborn started showing symptoms on January 29.

Both babies are in stable condition but still under close monitoring.
