Second Pinoy Domestic Worker Quarantined After Exposure To Coronavirus
CORONAVIRUS – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong confirmed that another Pinoy domestic worker is quarantined following her exposure to her boss who tested positive for coronavirus.
There are millions of Filipinos who worked abroad. It’s their way of escaping low wages and unemployment. Lots of countries accepted Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in their homes or offices because they are hard-working.
After the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus in Wuhan City, China. The relatives of the Pinoy in China are worried about their welfare. Recently, a Filipina OFW revealed their situation in China. She said they are well taken care of by their employers.
The first nCov death case outside China was recorded in the Philippines. The 44-year-old man came from the epicenter of the virus. He and his companion was the first confirmed case of coronavirus in the country.
In a previous article, the second virus death outside China has been reported in Hong Kong. The patient had a trip to Wuhan, China in January.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, the Philippine Consulate, Raly Tejada, confirmed that another Pinoy domestic worker was quarantined. The authorities decided to quarantine her for 14 days following her exposure to her boss who tested positive for nCoV.
“Just like the first case, she is healthy and asymptomatic, but per HK protocol, she must undergo 14-day quarantine,” he said.
According to the report, the OFW is reportedly the employee of the 39-year-old man. He is the 13th confirmed case in Hong Kong. He died due to heart failure on Tuesday, January 4.
Meanwhile, in Japan, the Diamond Princess cruise ship has been under quarantine after 10 travelers were found positive for the coronavirus.
