Cebu Hotels & Resorts Impose Stricter Protocols to Prevent Spread of 2019 Novel Coronavirus
Cebu hotels and resorts are now imposing stricter rules and regulations to prevent the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus in the country.
On Monday (February 3, 2020), the hotels and resorts in the province of Cebu are implementing strict protocols. Employees were scanning the guest entering the hotels with a thermal gun to check their body temperature. Guests who have a fever will be taken to the nurse station.
On Sunday (February 2, 2020), a Chinese tourist was brought to a nurse station due to increased body temperature. The personnel also rechecked his body temperature and it registered normal this time. The guest has been also asked about his travel history.
The tourist explained that he walked from the mall back to the hotel under the extreme heat of the sun prompting his body temperature to rise.
The move came after the boyfriend of the 38-year-old Chinese lady who was declared the first nCoV patient in the country died. The patient reportedly came from Wuhan, China and died in the Philippines.
The Chinese tourist reportedly traveled to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, and Cebu. The incident causes booking cancellations in numerous hotels and resorts in Cebu. Most of them were Chinese nationals.
“Punuan talaga ‘yan sa mga hotel. Ngayon with this virus, there are cancellations. Most of our members are complaining. We hope this virus will be eliminated soon,” Carlo Anton Suarez, president of the Hotel, Resort, Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI) said.
