11 Suspected Cases on Novel Coronavirus in PH Now Being Investigated by DOH
The Department of Health said that the Philippines is now investigating the 11 suspected cases of the deadly novel coronavirus.
On Monday (January 27, 2020), the Health Department reported that the authorities are still waiting for the laboratory results of the 11 people who came from Wuhan, China. Wuhan is the epicenter of the deadly disease.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque said that four people including a young kid tested negative for the pathogen in Cebu city. He explained that the authorities automatically probes travelers from Wuhan with flu and fever.
Duque explained that the travelers from Wuhan who arrived in the country would be quarantined and their samples will be sent to Research Institute for Tropical Medicine for several tests.
The Health Secretary also urged the public to regularly wash their hands, use face masks, and to keep hydrated all the time.
The novel coronavirus is currently causing fear and panic to the public as it continues to spread in different countries all around the world. A lot of countries are now implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
According to the latest reports, the novel coronavirus has 2,700 people in China and killed 80 people. China also locked down Hubei province, where the disease allegedly originated.
