Ilocos Norte Hit by 4.2 Magnitude Earthquake

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded that a 4.2 magnitude quake hit Ilocos Norte today, January 25, 2020.

Almost every day, quakes occur in different areas around the world. One of the countries that is usually hit by it is the Philippines. Phivolcs has recently recorded several quakes in the different areas in PH.

In 2018, among the records of Phivolcs is a series of five(5) quakes that hit Surigao del Sur. Fortunately, there were no reports of injury or damages caused by the quake.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake in an area in Ilocos Norte today, January 25, 2020. Meanwhile, no intensity was recorded.

Earthquake

According to Phivolcs, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit Ilocos Norte today, January 25, 2020. It was located at 18.21°North, 121.01°East – 015 km North 84° East of Carasi.

The quake was tectonic in origin and has a 001 km. depth of focus. Based on the bulletin released by Phivolcs, no damage is expected of the quake and as well as aftershocks.
