Bohol Ramp Up Efforts Amid Novel Coronavirus Threat
BOHOL – The Provincial government of Bohol are taking precautionary measures amid novel coronavirus threat.
The novel coronavirus or 2019 nCoV is common among animals. It can now be transmitted from animals to humans. The outbreak began in Wuhan, China in December.
In a previous article, the Department of Health (DOH) issued tips on how to protect yourself from the deadly virus. The symptoms include fever, coughing, runny nose, and sore throat.
Based on a report from the Bohol Chronicle, the Provincial Government of Bohol are taking precautionary measures against the spread of novel coronavirus. On January 12, a 5-year-old boy who traveled to Cebu City from Wuhan was admitted to an undisclosed hospital after showing symptoms of the virus.
On Wednesday, January 22, acting governor Rene Relampagos discuss preparedness measures against the virus with the local health authorities including the seaport and airport officials and Bureau of Quarantine.
According to the report, Rene Relampagos said they have to make a move while waiting for the guidelines from DOH. Bohol was not spared from the nCoV scare after 2 suspected cases were reported yesterday.
He disclosed that aged two and 36 Chinese nationals showed symptoms of the deadly virus. They are taken to separate hospitals in Tagbilaran City. The politician called on the public to remain calm since both cases remain unconfirmed.
Based on the report, the health authorities in Bohol took a swab sample from the two Chinese nationals and sent them to a research institute in Australia to verify if they are infected with the disease.
They allowed the foreigners to leave the hospital after their checkup they are placed under tight monitoring. They have placed a thermal scanner in Bohol’s lone airport and several seaports.
