Johnny Manahan is now working with TV5
Director, talent manager, and “starmaker” Johnny Manahan revealed the reason why he left GMA Network, but he also had an intriguing statement about the “other channel.”
Johnny, popularly known as Mr. M, is a co-founder of Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management company. For more than two decades, he worked with Star Magic and honed the talents of those who have become the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry.
However, many were surprised when he signed a contract with GMA back in 2021. He served as a consultant for Sparkle GMA Artist Center, the talent management company of the Kapuso network.
Although he transferred to GMA, his bond with Kapamilya stars and former Star Magic talents was still there. They would gather together once in a while to celebrate his birthday and other occasions.
In April last year, a speculation surfaced on social media, stating that Johnny Manahan would handle the talent management firm of TV5.
Just recently, it was officially announced that Mr. M will handle the Kapatid network’s Star Worx. During a media conference, based on that video posted on the Facebook page of Cinema Bravo, the legendary “starmaker” was asked why he left GMA.
He explained that his contract with the Kapuso network was just three years. Mr. M said that apparently, GMA just wanted to know if he could bring something to the table.
He said that he was treated well in GMA, and he got along with the executives of the network. “They just wanted to find out if I could teach, deliver something, in addition to what they had there,” Mr. M said.
Then, he said, “Tapos na ‘yon,” and the host of the press conference agreed that it was already a finished business, and already mentioned, “Next question.”
However, Johnny Manahan let out an intriguing statement. “Hindi mo tinanong why I left the other channel,” Mr. M said.
