Officials In Takalag Town, Bukidnon Province Killed

TAKALAG TOWN – Two councilors of Barangay Dominorog in Takalag town, Bukidnon province have been killed on January 20 (Monday).

According to SunStar, police investigators are deducing that the killing of two barangay officials might involve politics and land conflict.

The councilors, identified as Lorenzo Pedyaan and Mauricio Guinto, were supposed to attend the regular session when they were shot at the barangay hall.

Bukidnon police information officer Major Silvestre Asiong reported that they are encouraging witnesses and those who knew the incident to come forward and give their statements in order to arrest the assailants and put them behind bars.

The police are currently facing a blank wall regarding on the identity of the assailant who escaped from the crime scene towards the municipality of Pangantucan.

As per the report, Pedyaan died on the spot after sustaining a shot from the chest, while Guinto was shot in the head and was dished to the hospital, but to no avail.

The police recovered four caliber .45 pistol cartridge cases.

Judith Ocum, village chief of Dominorog, urged police and military personnel to provide security in the village especially during session.
