Class Suspension Declared In These Areas on Friday (January 17)
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspension in different areas due to Taal Volcano’s eruption.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology continues to monitor the activities in Taal Volcano. Taal is still under Alert Level 4, which indicates that a hazardous explosive eruption is expected within the next few hours or days.
Taal’s eruption also displaced thousands of residents in Batangas, Cavite, and Tagaytay as it spews ash plumes and small stones. The continuous ashfall has already damaged numerous properties and animals.
The Department of Health has also advised the affected residents to stay at home if possible and to wear face masks to avoid ash exposure. Ash exposure could lead to several health diseases.
Several areas affected by the volcano’s eruption are still covered by ash while thousands of residents are temporarily residing in some schools used as evacuation centers.
On Friday (January 17, 2020), several local government units announced the suspension of classes in several areas due to the effects of Taal’s eruption last weekend.
Here is the list of areas covered by the class cancellations:
- Cavite Province
- Calamba, Laguna
